image descriptionThe Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team advanced to the finals of the Barstow Tournament on Thursday night with a 4-2 win over St. Paul Lutheran Concordia.

The Gremlins scored 3 goals in the first 20 minutes of play to take the lead and never relinquished it.

Mason Kelchner in his first appearance out of the goal this year received a short corner ball from Max Martin in front of the net to open the Gremlins scoring. Brandon Cooper then added the Grems second score on an unassisted play.

Cooper was then able to add the Grems third goal on a half volley off a Mason Kelchner corner kick before the Grems switched to a possession type of game for the next twenty.

The Saints were able to get on the scoreboard shortly before half. The Grems opened up the second half with the same style of possession play and the scored remained at 3-1 for a majority of the second half.

Max Martin was able to receive a ball out wide, beat the defender down the line and find Sebastian Aguerro for the Grems final score. St. Pauls was able to score a final goal with about 10 minutes left in the match to make the final 4-2 Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart will now play in the finals of the Barstow Tournament on Saturday at 1:15.
