S-C freshmen win opener

FB.9th.Battle.2.0825The Smith-Cotton freshmen football team opened its season Monday night with a 6-0 win over Battle at Jennie Jaynes Stadium.

Tigers quarterback Blake Pomajzl scored from the 1-yard line as the first-half clock expired. He was set up by a pair of 12-yard runs by Gauge Young.

Young also was a factor on defense, stopping a Battle drive with a fumble recovery at the S-C 12-yard line with 4:14 to go in the third quarter.
