22 Aug 14“As we all know as soon as we step outside it’s hot and humid so this isn’t news. They (NWS) have extended the Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. Saturday. A Heat Advisory is issued when the expected Heat Index is between 105 and 114 degrees for at least three hours a day for two days.

“Main thing to remember is stay cool as best you can. Drink lots of water, wear loose fitting light colored clothing, if working outside keep an eye on your co-workers. Heat injuries are usually come from periods of cumulative heat, so break that cycle when you can by getting into air conditioning or at least a shady location. Please check on those who do not have air conditioning, check the elderly, they may have air conditioning, but may not turn it on our won’t have it set to a cool enough temperature.

“Never ever leave a child in a car! Never ever leave a pet in a car! Make sure your pets have water and a cool place rest,” urged Dave Clippert, Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Management Agency director.
