Fair Community College rising sophomore Roadrunners Dondre Alexander and Marcus Hinton showcased their talents in July when they competed against other top student athletes at select Missouri basketball camps.
Alexander represented SFCC July 12-13 in the Mullen’s Top 100 at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. “The people at Mullen’s see a lot of junior college games throughout the season,” said Roadrunners head coach Kevin Thomas. “They create a list of the top 100 rising sophomores in the country, and Dondre was selected through that process. He played hard and competed well. It was a great opportunity for him to showcase his talents in front of coaches and get the ball rolling on his recruitment for next year.”
Alexander averaged 11.3 points per contest as a freshman at SFCC and helped the Roadrunners to the program’s first win at the 2014 Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship.
Hinton, a new SFCC recruit for the 2014-2015 season, was among 120 student athletes selected for the July 11 invitation-only Mullen’s Junior College Showcase at Duchesne High School in St. Charles.
“Marcus did fine,” said Thomas. “He made a few shots and grabbed some rebounds in the final game. A lot of coaches expressed interest in recruiting him.”
Hinton played his freshman season at Lindenwood, where he averaged 5.9 points and pulled down 3.5 rebounds per contest.
“It’s another opportunity for players to help themselves in the recruiting process,” said Thomas. “If athletes play well and compete, they can earn scholarships at good schools the following year.”
