KMOS –TV recognizes young writers

green ridge winnersWARRENSBURG – Young writers from across mid-Missouri recently participated in the 2014 KMOS Kids Writers Contest sponsored by KMOS-TV, the University of Central Missouri’s public broadcasting station.

The 20th annual contest drew entries from throughout the KMOS-TV viewing area. Awards were presented to groups in Green Ridge and Columbia.

Kindergarten winners were Karsten Eckhoff, Stover, first place, “Bill’s Hat is Very Stuck”; William Fleury, Wardsville, second place, “John Deere, the Farmer, and the Animals”; Emily Schuck, Florence, third place, “Sarah Find a Home”; Gaige Webb, Centerview, honorable mention, “The Ninja Guinea Pig.”

First grade winners were Mikensey DeVorss, Green Ridge, first place, “The Pirates and the Lost Treasure”; Haley Frevert, Boonville, second place, “The Surprise”; Carter Holliday, Columbia, third place, “Lawrence Learns a Lesson”; Sofia Heredia, Columbia, honorable mention, “Following the Sun.”

Second grade winners were Jack Crawford, California, first place, “The Wind-up Robot”; Savannah Nilson, Green Ridge, second place, “The Crazy Farm”; Winstin Berry, Green Ridge, third place, “Aggie’s Life on the Farm”; Graham Turner, Columbia, honorable mention, “Isabelle Will.”

Third grade winners were Katherine Eckhoff, Stover, first place, “Madame Marie’s Mad Hat Mix Up”; Brooke Echternacht, Sunrise Beach, second place, “Masked”; Amy Weston, Chesterfield, third place, “Scribble”; Jaeden Webb, Centerview, honorable mention, “Jaeden’s B-day Surprise.”
