Clara Belle Jeffries (Grammie), 99 of Pilot Grove, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.
She was born on February 3, 1915 in Nelson, Mo.,daughter of Fred C. and Susan Clara Townsend Taylor. She was married on Dec. 26, 1936 in Pettis County to Roy Jeffries and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1982. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a farmers wife working alongside her husband. She enjoyed cooking, watching and listening to sports, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters; Gladys Faye Sparks of Belton, Connie Kempf (Larry) of Pilot Grove, one sister; Christeen Raines of Columbia, eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Roy Dwight Jeffries, one daughter-in-law; Joyce Jeffries, one son-in-law; Jerry Sparks, two sisters; Lorene Hooper and Reba Martin, three brothers; Franklin Taylor, James Albert Taylor and Freddie Taylor, two grandsons; Barry Sparks and Brent Sparks, one great grandson; Justin Jeffries.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Pastor Viola Rhoads officiating.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13 with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Sparks, Brad Sparks, Daren Jeffries, Patrick Jeffries, Kris Kempf and Jeff Wessing.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Children’s Therapy Center or the Katy Manor Activity Department.
