Area students earn degrees from MSU-Springfield

MSU-SpringfieldBradley A. Rife, Criminology-BS; and Brett A. Simon, Physical Therapy-DPT, both of Sedalia; and LaKala D. Steele, Comm Sci & Dis/Spch-BS, Magna Cum Laude in the Honors College, of Smithton, graduated from Missouri State University-Springfield May 16 at JQH Arena. They were among 2,381 MSU students who received their degrees over the course of three ceremonies.

A total of 1,784 bachelor’s degrees, 553 master’s degrees, four specialist degrees and 40 doctorate degrees were conferred. Beyond the standard expectations, 174 students were recognized for their work with a more rigorous curriculum in Missouri State’s Honors College. Scholastic honors were given to 91 students who graduated summa cum laude (with a grade point average of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale), 140 who graduated magna cum laude (with a GPA of 3.75-3.89) and 306 who graduated cum laude (with a GPA of 3.5-3.74).
