Joplin-6Joplin Festival attendees got a soggy welcome to downtown Sedalia on Thursday, the second day of the 2014 Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival, when rains soaked the area. Performers and fans huddled under tents to enjoy their favorite musicians. All of yesterday’s festivities took place indoors at SFCC.

The sun finally came out in full force late Thursday afternoon. The festival runs through Saturday, June 7. Free entertainment starts at 9 a.m. daily and continues at most venues until 5 p.m., except for the Stark Pavilion, which runs until 7 on Friday only.

This is the 40th anniversary of the first festival in 1974. For more information or to order concert tickets, call the Foundation office in downtown Sedalia at (660) 826-2271, toll free at (866) 218-6258, or email ragtimer@scott joplin.org.
