Junior Marionna Ward and senior Albert Nash earned 2014 West Central All-Conference first team track honors in two events each. Also making the first team for the Tigers were senior Zac Volk and junior Marquez Raye.
Ward won the girls 100-meter high hurdles and 300-meter low hurdles in the conference track meet, held May 2 in Clinton. Nash took first place in the boys 300-meter low hurdles and in the boys triple jump. Volk won the pole vault competition and Raye captured first in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Making the second team for the girls were Abby Perkins, shot put; Ward, long jump; and the 4×100-meter relay team of Mekeba Nash, Sarah Hughes, Drae Marcum and Ward. Boys second team selections were Luke Guier, 400-meter dash; Michael Chernookiy, triple jump; Chance Johnson, high jump; the 4×100-meter relay team of Blaine Sarabia, Austin LaBoube, Henry Contreras and Alex Diaz; and the 4×400-meter relay team of Guier, Johnson, Chernookiy and Taylor Gilliam.
Honorable Mention honorees for the boys: Chernookiy, 110-meter high hurdles and triple jump; Gilliam, 1,600-meter run and 800-meter run; Guier, 200-meter dash; Martin Zalpa 3,200-meter run; Bailey Hendricks, pole vault; LJ Marsh, shot put; Albert Nash, long jump; and the 4×800-meter relay team of Christian Sarabia, Ryan Perkins, Nathan White and Troy Lauer. Mekeba Nash was a girls honorable mention pick in the 100-meter dash.
