CWU reports on April 28 meeting at Wesley UMC

CWUChurch Women United of Sedalia met April 28, 2014, at the Wesley United Methodist Church. The meeting was called to order by President Joyce Foster and opened with prayer by Wesley CWU Representative Sue Cromley.

Willene Sims, Finance Officer, gave the Treasurer’s report and passed around envelopes for a Bakeless Bake Sale Fund-raiser.

Cheryl Brown, Ecumenical Celebrations, discussed the May Friendship Celebration to be held May 9, at Broadway Presbyterian Church. The lunch will be at 12:00 noon with delicious food being catered in and tickets are $10 per person. Featured speaker will be Rev. Gary Smith with The Embassy. Members are asked to bring Feminine products and/or paper products. The Theme for the Celebration is “We are in God’s hands and we are God’s Hands.” We will be offered a time to value our friendships and goals, which may include action in our community or in other parts of the world.

Marva Smith, Church World Services, announced that Habitat for Humanity will have a home dedication the 1st Sunday in June.

Judy Reed, Historian, noted that long time CWU member Kathryn Rayford passed away, with Funeral Service to be May 2, Ward Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She shared pictures from the event at which Kathryn was recently honored on April 13, for service to Sedalia Community and to her Church. She was an accomplished musician and held several offices for CWU.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at Community of Christ Church. President Joyce Foster closed the meeting with prayer.
