SCREAM.FRC.Team.0426Team SCREAM – Smith-Cotton Robotics, Engineering and Mathematics – competed April 23-26 in the “FIRST” World Championships in St. Louis.

The team earned the right to compete against 400 top teams from all around the globe with its victory in the Oklahoma City regional competition earlier this month.

S-C Engineering and Technology teacher Michael Wright is the team’s head coach. Concerning the world championships, he said: “As a team we finished the competition with a record of 5-5. Our students competed at a very high level against some of the best teams in the world. We had a very tough match schedule in the most difficult division at the championships. Our division went on to become the world champions. The team came away from the championships with a lot of excitement and motivation for next season. I am very proud of our students for their accomplishments this season and they did an excellent job of representing our school and community on the world stage.”

Team Captain Chase Bussey said: “It was absolutely amazing to be able to see all the best teams from around the world competing. Even though we didn’t do as well as I would’ve liked, I hope that the younger members of the team were inspired to keep improving, and to go back next year and to go back next year and win it all.”

The team’s end-of-season banquet is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4 in the high school cafeteria. Photos courtesy Sedalia School District 200.
