SH baseball Grems advance in Kaysinger tourney

sacredheartSacred Heart won their opening round matchup against Lincoln 18-1 in five innings in the first round of the Kaysinger Conference Baseball Tournament Saturday to improve to 13-0 (6-0) on the season.

Chance Spangler was the winning pitcher throwing all five innings and only allowing one earned run on 4 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Strathman was the losing pitcher for Lincoln.

Sacred Heart pounded out 19 hits as a team which was highlighted by Garret Strange’s 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 2nd which made the score 8-1 at that point. Strange finished the day 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Caleb Tanguay was 1-2 with a triple and 4 RBIs. Clint Spangler also had 4 RBIs en route to a 2-3 day at the plate with a single and a double.

Sacred Heart had several other players in the lineup have multi-hit games as part of their offensive explosion today. Jackson Smith was 3-4 with an RBI. Ben Smeltzer was 4-4 with an RBI. Mason Kelchner was 2-3 with an RBI. Kolin Brace and Michael Hohne also went 2-3 with one RBI and one double a piece.

Sacred Heart will play the winner of Cole Camp and Green Ridge today (Monday) in Cole Camp.
