This fall SFCC will offer several new programs: two Associate of Applied Science (AAS) agriculture degrees, one AAS degree in Computer and Network Administration and three computer-related Skills Certificates.
The two agriculture degrees, offered on the Sedalia campus, have emphases in Agronomy and Animal Science. Agronomists are responsible for increasing food production on fewer acres while ensuring resources are available for future generations. Employment opportunities include crop and seed production, fertilizer sales and application, pest and weed control, seed sales, crop scouting, seed analysts, and soil scientists.
The Animal Science program is designed for students pursuing a career in livestock production and focuses on all species of livestock. Students will learn basic animal science, livestock management, nutrition, biology, breeding, reproduction, and business.
The Computer and Network Administration program, offered on the Sedalia campus, prepares students for a number of certifications, including A+, Network +, Security +, CCNA, MCSA, or MCSE. Students work on current versions of software and hardware. Typical careers are systems administrator, IT specialist, IT manager, network administrator, or network manager.
Within the Computer and Network Administration program, SFCC is offering two new Skills Certificates: Enterprise Server Administration and Information Security. These Skills Certificates are designed for early entry into the workforce and are offered on the Sedalia campus. In fall 2015, a Storage and Virtualization Skills Certificate will be offered.
SFCC now offers three transfer degrees—Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching and Associate of Science—plus 34 AAS degrees ranging from accounting to renewable energy technology. Students also can choose from more than 20 skills or 12 professional certificate programs that can lead to quick employment.
SFCC has agreements with four-year schools that ensure earned credits will transfer to those institutions. The college also has specific agreements with Central Methodist University (CMU) to provide bachelor’s degree programs at Sedalia, Clinton, Lake of the Ozarks, and online; with Drury University for on-ground and online programs; and with the University of Central Missouri (UCM) and the University of Missouri.
