“The Lady Vikings got down early in the game but worked hard to battle back to take the lead. We had a 2 out error in the field in the 6th inning that led to an 8 run inning for St. Paul. We had a hard time being disciplined and patient at the plate; swinging at pitches that aren’t the ones that we can hit well which led us to grounding out or hitting fly balls. We have to do a better job of executing in the field, at the plate, and on the base paths. We left 14 runners on base and we can’t do that and expect to win, we have to find a way to score those runs.
“We travel to Sedalia to play Sacred Heart on Thursday at 5 and then head into the conference tournament on Saturday. I challenged the girls after the game to work harder than they ever have so that we can have a chance at defending our title on Saturday. I know they will step up to the challenge. They are a resilient group of young ladies and I know they will take this tough loss and use it as fuel to compete,” commented head coach Dabecka Kirk, La Monte R-IV.
