Medical oncologist Dr. Matt Triplett is now seeing cancer patients in Warsaw every Wednesday for new patient appointments and follow-up visits with lab work at Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake.
Patients and residents will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Triplett at a reception from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake, 1765 Commercial Street, Warsaw.
“Because time is critical in cancer care, the addition of Dr. Triplett allows us to provide comprehensive, compassionate treatment when patients need it, closer to home,” said John Dawes, president and chief executive officer of Bothwell Regional Health Center.
As a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders, Dr. Triplett earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and completed a hematology oncology fellowship at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia. He also is an adjunct clinical assistant professor in the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.
Dr. Triplett joined Dr. Bassem Chaar and Dr. William Decker at Bothwell’s Susan O’Brien Fischer Cancer Center in Sedalia in August. Unlike some rural hospitals who have visiting specialists to provide cancer treatment, Bothwell’s medical oncologists are employed by the hospital and are available to patients any day of the week.
As a medical oncologist, Dr. Triplett specializes in treating cancer with chemotherapy and other medications. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, an associate member of the American College of Physicians, and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
