The game was originally set to be played in Leeton, but due to field conditions was moved to La Monte.
“The Lady Vikings came out ready to play. They were solid on defense and Madison Harris came out and threw very well. The entire team hit well from top to bottom. Sandra Arroyo started off our offense with a double. Vada DeMotte hit a triple in her first at bat, Lindsey Foster hit a double and we had a few more very solid hits.
“Now that we’ve gotten our first game jitters out of the way I think they are ready to move on and continue to grow and get better. They saw that the hard work they’ve put in is paying off.
“Katie Fleming was the pitcher for Leeton and she threw very well. We knew that Maddie McKeehan was a solid hitter and I think we did a good job of making sure that she didn’t get a pitch that she could hit solid. Next week we play a double header against South Holt on Monday, Play Cole Camp at home Tuesday, Travel to Windsor Thursday and end the week at home against Northwest,” commented Dabecka Kirk, La Monte softball coach.
The Lady Vikings take on South Holt on Monday and Cole Camp on Tuesday in home games. They play at Windsor Thursday and Northwest Lady Mustangs on Friday at home.
