Job gains exceed losses in Missouri, BLS says

us-bureau-of-labor-statistics1According to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, gross job gains in Missouri from March 2013 to June 2013 exceeded gross job losses by 12,509 in private sector establishments. Gross job gains totaled 131,513 and gross job losses numbered 119,004.

Highlights from the Missouri Business Employment Dynamics news release:

· Expanding establishments accounted for 111,497 of the gross job gains; contracting establishments resulted in 99,717 gross job losses.

· Opening establishments registered 20,016 of the gross job gains, while closing establishments recorded 19,287 gross job losses.

· Gross job gains outnumbered gross job losses in eight industry sectors.

· Gross job losses exceeded gross job gains in three industry sectors.
