Orchestra.Oboe.0325On Tuesday night, the Smith-Cotton High School Instrumental Music Department had a pre-contest concert in the Heckart Performing Arts Center.

Along with the Smith-Cotton string orchestra, symphonic orchestra and symphonic band, also performing was the Nebraska Wesleyan University Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. J. Samuel Zitek. After the NWU band performance, the S-C symphonic band came on stage and the two bands performed a pair of songs they had rehearsed earlier in the day.

The NWU band is on its Spring Tour, which takes it from Lincoln, Neb., through Missouri to St. Louis. The Smith-Cotton bands will compete in the state large ensemble competition March 31 at Boonville. Photos courtesy Sedalia School District 200.
