MSHP-logo11Linda A. Ekstrom, 58, Sedalia, was seriouisly injured at 11:10 a.m. March 22 in a two-vehicle accident at North Grand and Highway 65, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A preliminary traffic crash report from the patrol said that Ekstrom was the driver of a 2010 Kia that was northbound on Grand when the accident occurred. The other vehicle was a 1997 Ford headed east on Highway 65 and driving by Pedro M. Contreras, 58, also of Sedalia.

The patrol’s report said the Ford “pulled into the path” of the Kia, which swerved to avoid it. The Kia traveled off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and then a fence, the patrol reported.

Contreras was not injured and no damage was done to the Ford. Extensive damage occurred to the Kia, however, according to the patrol.

Ekstrom was taken to University Hospital, Columbia, by Staff of Life.
