The March Women’s Democrat Meeting was held at Best Western.
President Jane Kelley opened the meeting at 6pm.
Jane led the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord’s Prayer.
Secretary Charli Ackerman read the minutes from the February meeting. Approved.
No Treasury report as our Treasurer Sheryl VonHolten was absent.
President Jane reminded everyone about the annual Dave Kelley Dinner sponsored by the Democrat Breakfast Club. The annual Birthday Memorial Dave Kelley Dinner will be this coming Thursday March 20th @ American Legion on Main Street starting at 5 p.m. with a Social Hour, and dinner starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. An Auction will follow.
Jane relayed that the 4th Congressional District Spring Women’s Club meeting will be held on April 19 at Best Western in Sedalia. Registration begins at 10:30 with the meeting starting at 11 a.m.
Charli Ackerman, member of the nominating committee for our clubs new officers, announced the slate of candidates. For President, Donna Franklin. 1st Vice President, Jane Kelley. 2nd Vice President, Cookie Poole. 3rd Vice President, Sharon Blankenship. Secretary, Sharon Bridges. Treasurer Pam Doane. Auditor, Charli Ackerman. Ann Hamilton motioned that the slate of candidates be accepted. Fran Shafer seconded. The vote was unanimous to accept the new officers. The new officers will be instated at the April meeting.
Jane brought up discussion to not buy gifts for the new officers or the outgoing officers as we have done in the past, but instead use the money that would be spent for gifts to give to a charity to be voted on. Donna Franklen motioned to discontinue buying gifts. Betty Hickam seconded. The vote was unanimous to not purchase gifts for incoming or outgoing officers, but to donate the money spent to a charity.
Jane announced that the regular April meeting for the 4th Congressional District will be held on April 6 at Best Western.
Judy Ebers reminded everyone about Community Cafe and to not forgot to bring the food that each person is committed to bringing and to please consider being there to help.
