GabbiE-1Sacred Heart senior Gabbi Ebers signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Avila University Lady Eagles in Kansas City, Mo., this fall during a brief ceremony Wednesday morning at Sacred Heart.

Ebers, 18, has been playing Lady Gremlin basketball since her freshman year at SH. Her main position is point guard. “That’s my specialty,” she said.  She is shown seated next to her parents, Robin and Layne Ebers.

“I wanted to go to a small school in a big city,” Ebers said of her decision to attend Avila. “When I toured, I really enjoyed it and I really like coach Williams, and they have a good pre-med program. “I’ve always wanted to do that. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor.”

In the back row from left are Sacred Heart Principal Dr. Mark Register, Harv Evers (grandparent), Avila University head women’s basketball coach Larry Williams, Sacred Heart head girls basketball coach Shawn Bestgen and SH Athletic Director David Fall.
