State Fair Community College nursing students sponsored a free public health fair March 11 in the upper level of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. The event was rescheduled from March 3 due to inclement weather.
The students, who will graduate in May with associate degrees in nursing, presented information on more than 20 health topics, from autism, blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack symptoms and prevention, cancer awareness and prevention, to adolescent obesity, food safety, human papilloma virus (HPV), sleep health and disorders, tobacco use, and oral health. Blood pressure screenings were also available.
The free health fair was part of Healthy People 2020, a national initiative that challenges individuals and communities to take steps toward good health. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia Weekly Observer.
