Four Sedalians killed in fiery crash

MSHP-logo11A total of four people, two males and two females, died in a fiery crash that occurred at 6:29 a.m. this morning on Route B south of Sacajawea Road in Pettis County.

A 2007 Audi driven by 25-year-old Dmitriy S. Banakh was northbound on B when it left the roadway, struck a ditch on the left side of the highway, then struck a tree. The vehicle then became fully engulfed in flames. Banakh, and passengers Angelika A. Franchuk, 19; Anna Morgunenko, 16; and Daniel Morgunekno, 20; were all pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Ben Banner. All four bodies were transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident was investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol, assisted by Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputies.
