MSHP-logo11A Sedalia couple was killed Thursday night in a head-on collision that occurred in northern Pettis County around 10:20 p.m.

Eldon F. Coleman, 67, and Melissa A. Coleman, 43, were both killed when the 2005 Nissan they were in was struck by a 2000 Freightliner driven by 63-year-old Dale L. Carmichael of Boonville. The Coleman vehicle became disabled in the southbound lanes of Highway 65 at Route J due to a prior crash. Eldon Coleman was the driver of the Nissan.

The Colemans were pronounced dead at the scene by Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith. The bodies were transported by EMS to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office.

This was the 13th and 14th fatality in Troop A for 2014, the Highway Patrol reported.

Both vehicles were totaled and later towed from the scene by Don’s Towing Service.
