NARFE.Pollitt.0305Sedalia School District 200 Superintendent Brad Pollitt on Wednesday discussed education issues, including Common Core State Standards, with the local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association at the Best Western State Fair Inn.

Pollitt said he has not seen valid evidence for the recent uproar over Common Core nationally and across Missouri, adding that the shift is aimed at teaching students to apply what they have learned.

Other goals are to focus on fewer educational objectives but to teach each of them more deeply, and to reduce the amount of remediation high school graduates need in order to take college-level courses. Photo courtesy Sedalia School District 200.
