March 3 Law Day cases resolved

gavelThe following cases were taken up during the March 3 Law Day docket:

Albin, William, 34, Cole Camp, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail. Sedalia Police Officer Michael Elwood stopped the defendant October 12 for driving while suspended and found marijuana in his possession. The felony driving while suspended charge was dismissed after the defendant regained his driving privileges.

Bailey, Kimberly, 34, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to stealing, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, charges stemming from a March 1, 2013 shoplifting arrest. Sedalia Police Det. Daniel Benner, off duty at the time, saw the defendant leave a Sedalia supermarket without paying for liquor in her purse. Sedalia Police Officer Michael Elwood located and arrested the defendant, and found baggies with methamphetamine residue in her pocket. The judge ordered an SAR and scheduled sentencing for April 9.

Huffman, Bobby, 47, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to driving while revoked and was placed on probation for 5 years. Sedalia Police Officer Neva Overstreet arrested the defendant for a traffic violation December 18, 2012 and found that his license was revoked. The defendant’s prior convictions made this offense a felony. While on probation, he will be required to serve 120 days in jail as shock detention.

Steidley, Steven, 39, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to burglary and stealing in connection with a shoplifting arrest November 11. Employees of Walmart stopped the defendant after watching him leave the store without paying for cell phone accessories. He had been banned from all Walmart stores after a previous stealing arrest, and he his two prior stealing convictions made this offense a felony. He was sentenced to serve 2 years in prison.

Teeter, Angela, 34, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. She was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Sedalia Police Officer Wes Flores April 21. The officer found a pipe with methamphetamine residue in her possession. The Court ordered a sentencing assessment report and scheduled sentencing for April 9.

Ubaldo-Lorenzo, Vicitacion, 62, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Missouri State Highway Patrolman Steven Force stopped the defendant near 10th and Moniteau October 21 because the car he was driving was heavily damaged. The defendant was intoxicated, and an investigation showed he had struck a parked car on Third Street. He was sentenced to serve 3 years in prison.

Wolfe, Kevin,46, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, charges stemming from a December 30 traffic stop. Sedalia Police Officer Michael Elwood found methamphetamine residue in a container in the defendant’s possession. He was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail.
