The annual Birthday Memorial Dave Kelley Dinner will be on March 20 at the  American Legion on Main Street starting at 5 p.m. with a Social Hour, and dinner starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. An Auction will follow.

President Jane requested volunteers for the Nominating Committee to present new officers to elect for our club at our March meeting. Volunteers were: Charli Ackerman, Donna Franklin, Cookie Poole and Kathy Ulmer and Carolyn Williams.

Treasurer Sheryl VonHolten mentioned that she was still collecting annual club dues. If you are not sure if you have paid or not, please see Sheryl after the meeting.

Jane brought up for discussion and vote whether or not our club wanted to pay for any of our future guest speaker’s dinner. After discussion, it was voted and passed to pay for any Guest Speakers dinner, but not for candidates running for election that might request to speak at our meetings.

Discussion was held whether or not to allow any candidates running in a Primary Election to request to be a Speaker at our club meetings. This was tabled until next month.

Marge Harlan was our Guest Speaker. She presented a slideshow and presentation and history, entitled “A Psychologist Looks at Slavery in America” The presentation was very enlightening and educational. We appreciated Marge’s passion and concern for the rights and equality for blacks in America, and agreed that we all need to continue to advocate for total equality and rights.

Noah Poole announced there would be a Jobs Fair on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Community Center in the Housing Authority Building.

Sheryl VonHolten motioned to adjourn, Carolyn Williams seconded. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
