The Ringen Brushy 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on Feb. 12, 2014 at Smithton High School. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Stacia Luttrell. Pledges were led by Dakota Wells. Secretary Kiersten Luttrell took roll call and 29 members were present. Treasurer Conner Bahner read the treasurers report and it was approved as read. A vote was taken and approved to pay an outstanding bill.
In new business, the members of the goat project (Hannah Boatright, Chase Bybee, Dakota Wells, Zach Cordes, Alexis Curtis, Jonathon Curtis, Emma Slaughter, and Chelsey Hall) gave a demonstration on all that they had been learning in their project meetings. They discussed feed requirements, showing techniques, average weights for mature meat goats, gestation, and proper care for a show. Lewis Page gave a meeting report on Woodworking. He told what he was learning and what he was doing for his project.
In announcements, a county wide dog meeting will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 that 4 p.m. and on March 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. A Vet Science 2 meeting will be held March 1 at 1 p.m. at the Extension Office. A swine meeting will be held Feb. 26 at 6 a.m. at Dwight Shroeder’s house. A sewing meeting will be held Feb. 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Fax Room at Smithton School.
The next 4-H meeting will be March 12, 2014 at Smithton School.
Please remember, in order to complete a project, 4-H members must attend five club meetings and complete six hours of project meetings.
With no further business to address, Dylan Dueschle motioned to adjourn the meeting, and Kandyn Hotsenpillar seconded the motion.
