Involved in the accident were a 2002 Chevrolet driven south by Karl A. Persinger, 60, Sedalia, and a 2006 Ford driven north by Aaron D. Eckerberg, 40, Liberty, the patrol reported.

Eckerberg received serious injuries in the crash and was transported by air ambulance to the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia. Also hurt were Douglas M. Buress, 33, and Kathryn E. Burgess, 34, both of Parkville and both passengers in the Ford. They received minor injuries and were taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center by the Pettis County Ambulance District.

According to the patrol, the accident occurred when the Chevrolet failed to yield at a posted stop sign “and struck (a) towed unit of” the Ford. The Ford then traveled off the road and overturned, coming to rest on its top.
