Vada Demotte led the Lady Vikings with 14 points, followed by Madison Harris with 12. Green Ridge came out ready to play and led by one at the half.
“We pressed the entire game hoping to eventually wear them down. We’re low on numbers and I’ve had to shift people around to different spots on the floor to help keep some fresh legs on the floor. I’ve been stressing the importance of learning everyone’s positions for this reason — you never know if someone will go down with an injury, get in foul trouble or simply run out of gas.
“Our best shooter, Madison Harris, has the tough role of playing a shooting guard as well as playing the post. This makes it easier for us to rotate our guards and our posts down the stretch when we need our legs. We seem to be getting everyone more involved in the offense which we needed to do. Guarding one or two players is much easier than guarding four or five. Everyone who played tonight scored, and for the first time this season, we had four scoring in double digits. (Erin Warner had 10 and Sandra Arroyo had 11).
“We play Saturday at 1 p.m. the winner of the Leeton vs Smithton game for third place. I believe our chances are just as good as theirs — should be a good one if we show up!” exclaimed La Monte head coach Manuel Lujan.
