Twelve of the 23 Smith Cotton DECA competitors at Wednesday’s district event were awarded trophies or medals for their high performance. The Tigers competed against 10 other schools, taking a 100-point test and performing in varied marketing scenarios. Their combined scored was the basis of their placing on the podium.
Placing first in Travel and Tourism Team were Wade Hagebusch and Andrew Tilley; Business Services Marketing Series, Chase Plymell 3rd, Kinser Hogan 4th; Food Marketing Series, Haily Tejada 4th; Restaurant and Food Service Management, Wade Hagebusch 5th; Retail Merchandising, Melissa Stratton 3rd; Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Steven Archambault 5th; Principles of Hospitality and Tourism, Jacob Carroll 2nd; Buying and Merchandising Team, Cody Kozak & Taylor Goff, 3rd; Hospitality Services Team, Kaylie Creach & Kinser Hogan, 3rd; Entrepreneurship Innovation, Tony Savage placed 2rd. Plymell, Stratton, Carroll, Tilley, Hagebusch and Savage will continue on to the state competition March 16, 17 and 18 at the Lodge of the Four Seasons, Lake of the Ozarks.
