CANTON, MO (02/06/2014)(readMedia)– Meagan Hare, senior from Cole Camp R-1 High School in Cole Camp, Mo., has competed in Culver-Stockton College’s 30th Annual Pillars for Excellence scholarship competition. Every year, Culver-Stockton selects eight winners for this full-tuition award. The scholarship is valued at $94,800, awarded over a four-year period.
To compete to be a Pillars for Excellence scholar, a student must have at least a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT score and have a 3.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Competitors must also come to campus and complete two interviews with faculty and staff and submit an essay on a given writing prompt.
Nearly 60 students competed for this full-tuition scholarship. Winners will be announced Feb. 14, 2014.
Culver-Stockton College, located in Canton, Mo., is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC specializes in experiential education and is one of only two colleges in the nation to offer the 12/3 semester calendar, where the typical 15 week semester is divided into two terms, a 12-week term and a 3-week term.
