sfcc_logo1State Fair Community College students are providing free tax preparation for the public through a program called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

The students have been certified by the IRS and can prepare and electronically file both federal and state tax returns for anyone whose income does not exceed $55,000 per year.

Students are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through April 15 in Fielding Technical Center, Room 226A, on the Sedalia campus. Appointments are not taken; walk-ins are offered assistance on a first come, first served basis.

The service will not be available Feb. 17 and March 17 and 19 because classes are not in session those days.

Individuals must provide an ID or Social Security card, a W-2 form and other paperwork needed to file a tax return.

For more information, call instructor Kelly Russell at (660) 596-7441. Russell supervises and reviews all returns prepared by the students.
