On Jan. 15, the Smith-Cotton High School JROTC freshman cadets concluded a coat drive at Smith-Cotton Junior High School to benefit needy individuals and families in Sedalia. The cadets collected a total of 189 coats for donation to the Salvation Army. Cadets Kaitlyn Puentes and Logan Tatum planned, coordinated and executed the coat drive.
Cadet Tatum said, “I realized how taken for granted a coat was, and it opened my eyes while doing this coat drive. It made me feel good about what I was doing.” The Smith-Cotton JROTC cadets are thrilled to be able to give back to the community in this small way. –By Cadet CPT Cristina Tejeda
