mo-molmrivhs-letter-150The La Monte Lady Vikings lost to the Tipton Lady Cardinals, 71-39, Tuesday night.

High scorers for La Monte included Cathy Butts with 12 points, 4 Rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal; Sandra Arroyo scored 11 points with 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals; and Madison Harris scored 9 points.

“I’m sure some readers will question my comments, but I really wasn’t upset with the girls tonight & the way we played. I didn’t know much about this team & their offensive/defensive schemes and will make sure I do a better job of preparing my team with scouting reports. I do know that Tipton has tradition and are a well-coached team. I believe MaxPreps has them listed at #20 in the standings for Class 2A in the State of Missouri — that alone grabbed my attention.

“We can’t go into Kaysinger Conference play & expect to win — we have to earn our wins. We can’t just go out and settle with the way we’re playing. We have to ‘want’ to get better and commit ourselves to hard work, dedication, understanding roles, being leaders, and pushing one another from start to finish. Coach Demotte and I will start making adjustments at practice and go from here,” commented head Lady Vikings coach Manuel Lujan.
