“Overall I was really pleased with the way we played tonight. The girls gave me 100 percent from the “get-go.” We led throughout almost the entire game & came out on top for the three quarters. I think the girls shocked themselves going into the 4th quarter, when they suddenly realized it could be either team’s game. We’re young and little rusty when it comes to big games like this, but I’ve been telling the girls to keep believing in themselves and in each other.
“Credit to Sacred Heart for never giving up even when they were down by five with just a few minutes left to play. When all was said and done, Sacred Heart came out on top. I was proud of the girls and the effort they gave tonight. As a coach, you can’t ask for anything more. I can’t imagine what a win would have done for this team, but I will say that those wins will come in time. I have nine sophomores and two juniors, so we still have plenty time to learn and play some more basketball,” commented head coach Manuel Lujan.
In addition, coach Lujan stated “The La Monte Lady Vikings would like to thank the State Fair Lady Roadrunners Basketball Team for their support at tonight’s game Vs. Sacred Heart. The La Monte Lady Vikings & the SFCC Lady Roadrunners have teamed-up as part of a “Mentoring Program” to encourage student-athletes & to support women’s basketball. Thank You!”
