The Sedalia Business Women’s Organization met for its regular dinner meeting on January 2nd at Best Western State Fair Motor Inn. The meeting was called to order by Michelle Sparks, President. The invocation was given by Debbie Ulmer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Club Collect. Guests introduced by Linda Fisher were Michael and Patricia Harrison and Myrna Ragar.
The program was in memory of longtime SBW member Donna L. Harrison, who passed away in October. Donna joined the Sedalia Business and Professional Women’s Organization, now known as Sedalia Business Women’s Organization, in 1968 and served as an officer and active committee member throughout the years. Donna was employed by Third National Bank for 34 years.
Written tributes prepared by Karen Steele and Arlene Wischmeier were read by Brenda Tippie. Betty Blackwell, who as Membership Chairman in 1968 had invited Donna to become a member of the organization, spoke of Donna’s gifts of service and friendship. Debbie Ulmer, Chaplain, concluded the tribute with the presentation of a resolution of sympathy to Donna’s brother Michael Harrison and his wife, Patricia.
Brenda Tippie, Membership Chair, introduced four new members: Pam Aker, sponsored by Teresa Pennock; Carla Johnson, sponsored by Lishanna Bredehoeft; Jamie Folsom, sponsored by SBW as a scholarship recipient; and Charity Cole, sponsored by Nancy Grey.
The Feb. 6 meeting is being planned by the Foundation Committee. Members are reminded to sell their tickets for the Red Purse drawing and to bring items for a silent auction to benefit the SBW Missouri Foundation.
