sfcc_logo1State Fair Community College is offering several “anytime, on-demand” Lifelong Learning classes this winter.

Private Computer Tutoring offers three hours of one-on-one instruction with a computer instructor in an SFCC computer lab. The class will focus on software programs of the participant’s choice, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Businesses also may arrange classes. Cost is $149; instructor is Vern Haynes III. Specific date, time and lab location will be arranged upon enrollment.

Four National Rifle Association (NRA)-certified courses are offered on demand by Bill Chapman, an NRA-certified instructor and certified law enforcement instructor. Classes will be scheduled upon enrollment. Classes available include:

• Basic Pistol—This class is typically eight to 10 hours and includes classroom and range time. Cost is $69 plus a $10 materials fee payable at the first class.

• Home Firearm Safety—This four-hour classroom course teaches safe gun handling. Cost is $49 plus a $10 materials fee payable at the first class.

• Personal Protection in the Home— This class is typically 10 to 12 hours and includes classroom and range time. Cost is $125 plus a $12 materials fee payable at the first class.

• Missouri Concealed Carry—This is a comprehensive training experience in pistol safety, operations, mental preparation, and firearms law. It is at least 10 hours long and includes classroom and range time. Cost is $99 plus a $10 materials feel payable at the first class.

This class will meet from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or until finished on Monday, Jan. 20, in Potter-Ewing Agriculture Building Room 402. This class also may be arranged to accommodate a time convenient for the student. It will be offered again Feb. 9; times may vary.

All of the above listed classes qualify for the Prime Time Learners 10% discount for adults age 60 and above.

SFCC also offers a series of flexible online classes and programs. Students choose when and where to participate—day or evening, weekdays or weekends. Programs include:

Ed2Go: Six-week classes start monthly for exploring new careers, honing skills or preparing for formal exams such as the GED, SAT, GMAT, GRE or LSAT

ProTrain: Professional classes, programs and certificates in new and emerging fields such as Six Sigma, LEED and Green Jobs. These are the most flexible offerings, as students may start whenever they want.

UGot Class: Classes designed for educators and business professionals
