Born March 22, 1924 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Rena Rhoads Pohl. On June 25, 1945 she married Joe Whitlow, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1976.
She is survived by her children, Judy Ann Burnett (Richard), of Sun City, Ariz., James Lee Whitlow, of Charleston, SC and Joseph E. Whitlow (Cherie), of Sedalia; two sisters, Shirley Alexander, of Sedalia and Ruth Filby, of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandsons, Jimmy, Bradley and Joey Whitlow; four great-grandchildren, Leora, Caroline, Emma and Dylan Whitlow; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Harold Pohl; three sisters, Kay Gorden, Evelyn Pohl and Virginia Pohl; and one grandson, Michael Burnett.
Mrs. Whitlow was raised on a farm in Pettis County. She was a 1942 graduate of Green Ridge High School. She worked for Western Union for many years as a telegrapher, and later worked at Roth’s Department Store. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She also enjoyed working in her garden and traveling.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
