Coach Manuel Lujan guided his Lady Vikings to a 78-31 victory over the Calhoun Lady Eagles to take the Midstate Conference Tournament championship title Saturday night at La Monte.

The third place boys and first place boys and girls games were moved from the host site at Wentworth to La Monte due to the icy road conditions that existed. In fact, the first place trophies were still at Wentworth at the conclusion of the games, leaving the winning teams to pose for group photos without a trophy. But that didn’t hamper the Lady Vikings’ enthusiasm one bit.

“Madison Harris led the Lady Vikings to a Mid State Tournament Championship scoring 19 points. I put her up to the challenge in my own way & she responded by playing well on both ends of the floor. The girls played good team ball this evening & deserve to celebrate!,” commented coach Lujan.

The girls play a regular season game at Lincoln Monday night.

The boys third place game went to Kingsville. They beat Chilhowee, 53-38. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
