On Nov. 11, Jauhn Nash began her job as the new County Service Director for Care Connection, where she has been enjoying meeting and getting to know the elderly of Pettis County over the past nine days.

“I love them. They brighten my day and I enjoy visiting with them and hearing their stories,” Jauhn Nash said when speaking of the elderly.

Nash currently lives in Warrensburg and she is the mother of eight children. Four of her kids are currently in the military.

Nash was asked what her day-to-day duties include as the new director of Care Connection.

“Basically I oversee the day-to day operations of the Sedalia Senior Center, fundraising, recruitment of volunteers, facility improvements and working with the city,” Nash explained.

She added, “I have already changed my office up a bit. I am going to have my family help me paint and revitalize it.

“I want this to be a place for people to come and relax. My goals for next year are to revitalize, refurbish, and partner with Sedalia service clubs, State Fair Community College and many other organizations.”

Nash was then asked how she had found out about the position.

“It was through the Warrensburg paper. I wasn’t looking for work at all and I just felt it was a calling to serve rather than to be an executive in human resources,” she said.

“My daughter, Brittany LaChance has four children. That is why I quit working, to help with them. I quit working in June, 2010. I was the systems director of human resources at Pinnacle Career Institute in Kansas City,” Nash said.

According to information from Care Connection, they provide resources and services to seniors 60 plus and their caregivers in 13 counties in Missouri.

Their mission is to assure that older Missourians residing in the 13 counties they serve have the ability to live out their lives with maximum independence and dignity in their own homes and communities.

They provide many services, including a meal program, information and assistance, care management, in-home services, family caregiver support services, health and wellness programs, transportation and their Ombudsman Long-Term Care Program.
