Soccer Gremlins advance to state quarterfinals

The Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team (22-3) advanced to the state Quarterfinals Tuesday night at Osage Beach with an 8-1 victory over Laquey.

Chris Mergen opened the scoring on an assist from Brandon Cooper. Jimmy Villalobos scored the second goal on an assist from Cooper. Brandon Cooper scored the next three goals on assists from Max Martin, Garrett Strange, and Chris Mergen to complete a hat trick. Jimmy Villalobos scored the next three gremlin goals on assists from Brandon Cooper and Chris Mergen and one unassisted to complete the Gremlins’ scoring. Mason Kelchner recorded the victory in the goal with four saves.

The Gremlins lost 3-2 in double OT to Springfield Catholic (22-5) Saturday, Nov. 16  in the Quarterfinal match-up at Clover Dell Park in Sedalia.
