La Monte math teams bring back medals, ribbons from California

The La Monte math team traveled to California, Mo., to a math contest on Saturday, Nov. 9. As individuals, they earned 20 medals or ribbons to win third place as a team. Other competing schools attending the contest were Jamestown, Lincoln, Sacred Heart, Smithton and Stover.

Joey Perez earned a first place medal in Statistics and Probability, a fourth place ribbon in ACT, a fifth place ribbon in Medley Team, sixth in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus.

Erin Warner earned a first place medal in Geometry 10, a third place medal in Sophomore Team, a fourth place ribbon in Manual Computations 10.

Vada DeMotte earned a second place medal in Word Problems 10, a third place medal in Geometry 10, a fifth place ribbon in Medley Team, and 10th place in Algebra 10.

Clayton DeMotte earned a third place medal in Senior Team, a third place medal in Statistics and Probability, seventh place in Pre-Calculus, eighth place in ACT and Trigonometry.

Antonia Arroyo earned a third place medal in Senior Team.

Sandra Arroyo earned a third place medal in Sophomore Team.

Maria Lemus earned a third place medal in Sophomore Team and ninth place in Manual Computations 10.

Katie Patrick earned a third place medal in Sophomore Team.

Logan Rieckhoff earned a fifth place ribbon in Medley Team, a fifth place ribbon in Word Problems 10, ninth place in Manual Computations 10 and 10th place in Graphing.

Aaron Schilli earned a fifth place ribbon in Medley Team, ninth place in Manual Computations 9 and 10th place in Word Problems 10.

La Monte Math Club members meet before school every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. to practice and get help and give up their Saturdays to attend competitions, according their advisor  Cheryl Hibbard
