Crossroads Hospice recognized about a dozen of veterans for their service to the country in a patriotic ceremony at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center and Rest Haven Convalescent Home, 3333 W. Tenth Street, on Friday, Nov. 8 featuring Sedalia Mayor Elaine Horn. Veterans received pins, certificates and American flags in their honor.

Crossroads Chaplain Bill Douglas led the ceremony, which included a video and the playing of each branch of the military’s theme song. The event concluded with refreshments.

The ceremony is part of Crossroads Hospice’s “Honor Our Veterans” Recognition Campaign acknowledging veteran patients and veterans in the community with ceremonies of appreciation this November.

A similar ceremony took place at Rest Haven Convalescent Home, 1800 S. Ingram Ave., on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
