Christina Stratton, daughter of Chris and Victoria Stratton, represented Sedalia in the MISS Missouri USA /TEEN USA Pageant this past weekend in St. Louis. Christina is Miss Sedalia Teen USA and competed against 70 other girls from across the state in swimsuit, evening gown, and personal interview competitions.
The pageant has two age divisions, and the winners will go on to represent our state in the 2014 MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® Pageant in the Bahamas in August. MISS USA goes on to compete in the MISS UNIVERSE® Pageant. The MISS USA Pageant system stresses good morals, physical fitness, communication skills, social awareness and community involvement and is considered the “World Series of the Pageant Systems.”
Christina is the president of the National Junior Honor Society at Sacred Heart, a varsity Cheerleader, has won numerous local math contests and trains 20 hours a week in dance. She will be featured as the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy in Studio A Dance Conservatory’s upcoming production of the Nutcracker.
She was sponsored by Studio A Dance Conservatory, Sara TaFoya Photography, Mia Bella Salon and Impact Signs.
Christina Stratton, 14, Miss Sedalia Teen USA, was named first Runner up, Miss Missouri Teen, receiving a $48,000 scholarship to Lindenwood University, the Swimsuit Award and the Spirit Award (judges and staff pick the girl they think has the kindest spirit at rehearsals and at the pageant).
She was the only 14-year-old in the top five, and the winner from last year was a college student and this year’s winner is a senior, according to her mother Victoria. Photos courtesy Sara TaFoya Photography.
