S-C swim Tigers take second in WCC

Smith-Cotton took second at the West Central Conference swim meet held Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the Joe Arbisi Memorial Pool at Sedalia Middle School in Sedalia.

S-C scored 348 points while Warrensburg took first with 532. St. Pius was third with 294 and O’Hara was fourth with 42.

In the Relay events, the S-C team of Tyler Steger, Carter Lapine, Ben Terrell and Tyler Spear, took third in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a 2:06.04, behind St. Pius with a 1:56.21 and Warrensburg’s 1:55.96.

In the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, the S-C team of Daniel Akin, Trustin Oja, Ben Terrell and Tyler Spear took third with a 1:42.83, while Warrensburg took second with a 1:41.90 and St. Pius took first with a 1:40.16.

In the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, The S-C team of Daniel Akin, Trustin Oja, Tyler Steger and Carter Lapine too first with a 4:00.65, while Warrensburg took second with a 4:15.22.

Individual results are as follows:

In the 200-Yard Freestyle, Tyler Steger was second with a 2:05.14. Andriy Usyk was seventh with a 3:09.23.

In the 200-Yard Intermediate, Trustin Oja was first with a 2:24.03, while Carter Lapine wads fifth with a 2:48.36.

In the 50-Yard Freestyle, S-C’s Daniel Akin was first with a 25.39. Tyler Spear came in second with a 25.41.

In the 100-Yard Butterfly, Ben Terrell was fifth with a 1:13.08.

In the 100-Yard Freestyle, Tyler Spear came in second with a 57.13, while Daniel Akin was third with a 57.47.

In the 500-Yard Freestyle, S-C’s Tyler Steger was first with a 5:55.08, while Ben Terrell was second with 6:08.80. Andriy Usyk was sixth with a 9:07.50.

In the 100-Yard Backstroke, S-C’s Trustin Oja came in second with a 1:02.55.

In the 100-Yard Breaststroke, Carter Lapine was sixth with a 1:23.36.

And in One-Meter Diving, S-C’s Andrew Tilley was second with 293.30 points, in between two Warrensburg divers — Nick Piontek (first with 331.25) and Tyler Grigg (third with a 189.85).

S-C will compete in the Independent League Championships Nov. 8-9.
