Local speaker places second in competition

P. C. Thomas, Sedalia, recently won a second place award for a three-minute evaluation of a speech given by Toastmaster Sharon Mulroy, Kansas City, during a division-level competition. Prior to this, Thomas had won first place in a club-level event and second in an area-level contest.

During that contest in Kansas City, Demetrius Pagan, Warrensburg, won second place for a seven-minute humorous speech titled “Baby Boot Camp.”

Prior to this win, Pagan had won a second place award in an area-level contest in Kansas City after he had won at the club level in Knob Noster.

Other Toastmasters from the Knob Noster club who participated in the area-level contest included Jennifer Tucek and Linwood Mason.

It was also reported that Chris Valenzuela, Warrensburg, past-president of the Spirit of America Toastmasters Club, had recently been elected area governor of Toastmasters Inernational. Submitted photo.
