The Sacred Heart boys soccer team lost 2-1 to Southern Boone in overtime at Southern Boone on Wednesday night.

The Grems went down 1-0 in the first half after starting keeper Mason Kelchner was injured on a collision and had to be replaced by Garrett Strange in the goal. The Grems were able to tie the score in the second half after Chris Mergen scored a header off a corner kick from Brandon Cooper. The score remained tied for most of the second half and to the end of regulation.

During the overtime both teams had opportunities on goal with Boone eventually converting a cross with about 3 minutes left in the first overtime. The Gremlins, now 12-2 on the season, travel to Springfield this weekend to compete in the Kickapoo shootout.
