The Smith-Cotton freshmen football team fought back after losing the lead just after halftime and posted a 46-20 win Monday night at Excelsior Springs.

S-C held a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to 6- and 8-yard touchdown runs by Keoni Hale, who also provided the 2-point conversions. Excelsior Springs then scored 20 consecutive points, including six by running the second-half kickoff back to take a 20-16 lead.

S-C then marched down the field and Hale finished the drive with a 14-yard TD run, giving the Tigers, now 3-3, a lead they would not relinquish.

Hale added a 73-yard interception return for a TD, and Drake Allen and Daniel Winfield also found the end zone on runs of 13 and 32 yards, respectively.
