The Northwest Lady Mustangs took fourth place in the Kaysinger Volleyball Tournament, after losing to the Cole Camp Bluebirds, 13-25, 24-26, on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Cole Camp. The Bluebirds took third, while Stover took second place and Sacred Heart took the championship trophy out of 10 teams.
The Northwest Lady Mustang volleyball team won all three of their games in pool play on Thursday, Oct. 3 during the Kaysinger Conference Tournament. Going into the tournament, the Lady Mustangs were seeded eighth.
The first game of pool play for NW was against Green Ridge and they won in two sets, 25-19 and 25-23. The second game of pool play was against the La Monte Lady Vikings and NW took the game in two sets, winning 25-17 and 25-18.
The last game of the night came against Windsor and NW came out on top in two sets, winning 25-17 and 25-20.
Pool play continued on Sunday and NW lost to the Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds in two sets, 22-25 and 20-25. This concluded the last round of pool play.
The Lady Mustangs finished second in their pool. Going into the tournament the Lady Mustangs met the Sacred Heart Lady Gremlins in the first round. Northwest ended up losing to the Lady Gremlins in two sets, 18-25 and 21-25.
After losing the game the Lady Mustangs went on to play for third place against Cole Camp. Northwest ended up on the losing end after two sets, 13-25 and 24-26. This put the Lady Mustangs with a fourth place finish for the tournament. There where ten teams vying for the tournament title. Photos by Randy Kirby, Sedalia News Journal.
